How to play Peg Solitaire?

Single Checkers is played alone without an opponent; It is a world-famous puzzle game in which you try to leave a single stone on the board by jumping the stones over each other. With the "Undo" feature, you improve your problem-solving skills by trial and error.

  1. There are 32 tiles on the board, with an empty middle.
  2. You drop a tile into an empty hole by jumping it over a neighboring tile next to it (not diagonally, only horizontally/vertically).
  3. The stone you jumped over is removed from the board (eaten).
  4. There is no rival; You compete entirely with yourself. Your goal is to leave only one piece on the board!
  5. If you made the wrong move, you can return to the previous situation with the "Undo" option in the game.

Peg Solitaire strategy tips

  • Don't leave the pieces alone on the edges: a stone that has no neighbor can never jump again.
  • Divide the board into zones and clear each zone separately; work from the corners to the center.
  • Before a move, think about which pieces that move will make "unsalvageable".

Peg Solitaire history

Single Checkers is a classic puzzle known around the world as "peg solitaire". The earliest definitive record of the game is a depiction of a princess playing the game in a French engraving from 1697.

On the cross-shaped 33-hole English board, starting empty in the middle and leaving the last stone exactly in the middle is the most famous and most difficult goal of the puzzle.
